Sindhu Nair

The artist, Sindhu Nair – a Radiation Oncologist and Palliative Care Physician by profession keeps herself busy as a prolific artist. She is known to often complete poignant and complex works of art in a single sitting of less than an hour! Her choice of subjects and media is quite eclectic, though she is partial to studies in solitude, especially its different dimensions as epitomized by The Buddha Gautama. Her most recent works are also inspired by the rich smorgasbord of deities and motifs of the the Hindu religion and its various sects.

Q1. First and the foremost thing, how did you start painting?
It was a very natural process- liked to experiment with art the very beginning, right from School… it still continues and I don’t want it to end.

Q2. When did people realize that there is a serous painter inside you?
Whenever they saw my work, it was appreciated.

Q3. Everybody has an inspiration, what inspired you to paint?
A mixture of my emotions & the various colors.

Q4. You seemed to portray landscape a lot could you tell me more about your art?
 I play with colors, different textures, gold, silver, metal, ceramics and lore the effects they bring out. I love doing abstracts, Buddhas, acrylics.

Q5. How do you handle the business side of being an artist?
I am a “Pro” when it comes to business.

Q6. Tell me more about your latest series of paintings and where you are going with them?
My Buddha series, the angel’s series, abstract ratio style. Now I’ll be trying more texture and more of ceramics.

Q7. What do you want to communicate through your paintings?
My feelings… I don’t show the depth of my feelings to another person. I just show it on my canvas.

Q8. You have won so many Awards in various State & National Level Exhibitions, which one is the most prestigious award for you?
Every single one of them is special.

Q9. Apart from painting, what do you do in your spare time?
Sing, Dance and many more things.

Q10. What advice would you like to give to an artist, just starting off?
Keep it going & never stop.
